Winter Wheat – part II

So, that winter wheat (see first post here) is growing like a weed, and keeping pretty much all the weeds at bay, too.  We’re pretty pumped because we hardly did anything to them all winter, and yet they’ve sprouted those lovely tassels all by themselves : ).

In just a couple of months more we will be able to harvest and grind that down into flour.  Then we’ll make some seriously homemade bread.  Stay tuned…

  1. It’s a real native ladybug! I was pleased to see that guy instead of the big crickets and spiders I typically find in the garden… The wheat is past knee-high – I’d say at least 2-3 feet! Very gratifying 🙂

  2. That is one cute ladybug in the first photo. Did you buy and release ladybugs, or are they naturally found there? I hear they are good guys to have around. How tall is that wheat now?

That bread will be so fantastic! Enjoy the process! Car&Lar
